Dr. Dalenberg specializes in the clinical and forensic assessment and treatment of the victims of traumatic or stressful events. In recognition of her expertise, she was appointed to the office of associate editor of the American Psychological Association’s journal on traumatic stress, Psychological Trauma in 2012. In January of 2012, she also become President Elect of the American Psychological Association’s Division of Trauma Psychology and now serves on the President’s Council as Chair of the Science committee. She has national awards for her research and clinical contributions in the area of child abuse, including:

  • Annual Award for Clinical Contributions -- International Society for the Study of Dissociation, 2002
  • William Friedrich Award for Child Sexual Abuse Research, Assessment and Treatment, 2006 – International Conference on Violence, Abuse and Trauma
  • Morton Prince Award for Scientific Achievement -- International Society for Trauma and Dissociation, 2010
  • Pierre Janet Writing award for Trauma Publications – International Society for Trauma and Dissociation, 2012
  • Lifetime Achievement award in Trauma Psychology – American Psychological Association, Division 56, 2016
